Shaw Estates and Chartwell Neighborhoods in East Lansing, MI
I continue my quest to highlight different neighborhoods in the Greater Lansing area. A great little neighborhood you may never have heard of is located just west of Harrision and north of Saginaw in East Lansing called “Shaw Estates” This neighborhood has a location to be envied, it is located just 5 minutues to Meijer, Frandor Shopping Center and Downtown East Lansing. With such a convenient location, you would be shocked at the quiet streets and suburban style lots nestled just off these busy streets. There are also plenty of parks nearby for the kids. The homes are between 1500-2500 square feet and were mostly built in the 1970s and 1980s.
The neighborhood has faired incredibly well during the downturn with an average sales price in the last 12 months of $255,400, down from $262,550. I was shocked to see these numbers…I think they are the lowest depreciation I have seen, which is great news (well, unless you are looking to buy in Shaw Estates).
Chartwell Estates is just west of Shaw Estates and has a slightly smaller and more affordable housing stock.
